Learning how to do stuff. You see that bicycle thingy? *Inserts that WhatsApp sticker of a pencil/black ink figure wailing profusely*. It's like the ocean, I'm in love with the waves, but I'm terrified to swim. It didn't matter much to me in the beginning, but as I grew older, I just admired people who can ride a bike, and everywhere I turn, it's like everyone but me knows how to ride a bike. From my 5 years old cousin to my 30 years old cousin, they can all ride bikes. One time, I decided to suck it up and learn and I was lucky enough to have willing teachers, but guess what? I didn't want to fall, which is just impossible when you're learning to ride a bike. So, I gave up 😭. But like you, I've also wondered how my kids would learn if I don't know how to do it 😭😭😭. Sometimes, there's no learning without pain and I guess riding a bicycle is one of those times. So, until I suck it up again and get ready to fall, I'll be admiring everybody who has learned the skill around me and the Koreans on my screen (it's like a national sport/skill for them, and it's so beautiful to see. They can 'all' ride bikes 🥺).
I felt this thing at a point where I raised my rates as a designer. I realised there's always a small window in every designer that opens every now and then where you can get top tier work for a much lower price just before they raise their rates. One very small place in the Dunning Kruger curve. I imagine it exists in most fields, smaller scale entrepreneurs should look out for this.
Also I don't know how you've done it, but you've managed to make me loyal to a newsletter 😂😂😂, keep up the great work.
Honestly I agree 100%, we just need to keep our eyes open and know when to take advantage. Thank God you're loyal oo 😂😂, please tell your family and friends to join too 🙏🏿
This bicycle thing ehn, I'm still pained about it😂. I don't know how to ride one, I've tried learning but I'm too scared to fall so I gave it up, maybe I'll try learning again (and yes learning how to ride a bicycle has nothing to do with my day to day activities but just knowing I can ride a bicycle too will make me happy 😂)
Plot twist : Bros D waits one year for Shade to relocate to the US, ask her for a serious relationship and she says No 😩 ( well at least no non existent $30k would be lost).
This piece was worth every minute! It is also useful to realise that price is often market driven – usually determined by the collective assessment of folks who may not necessarily share your views on the thing in question. Value, on the other hand, is often personal. I have also noticed that many people exploit this principle in reverse e.g. what you pay for a passport photograph at the embassy, what you pay to have your tyres changed when they run flat on a dangerous route or even Uber’s “mysterious” surge pricing on a rainy Monday morning in Lagos.
Bro D’s situation made me chuckle. I hope he has checked his chest to see if Shade holds his mumu button and if potentially losing her within the next year will hurt him more than his $30k savings can make up for.
First time commenting, I particularly like this newsletter. Maybe cos of the new skill or something...I don't know. But I noticed that everytime I have to read your news letter...I learn a whole lot. I even google them most of the time.

Hmmm.......in the bid to appear "nice", " caring", "humble" and all, some of us end up paying soo much for soo little.....this is so me sometimes.
Guess I need to start weighing my options before making decisions......This is an amazing newsletter!
Exactly! Being 'nice' x 'humble' puts you in trouble tbh. This life get as e be.
Thanks for reading and please don't forget to share! :)
Nawa o.....that's how I have come to be somebody to look forward to a newsletter every Sunday. Well done MrHameed.

Haha thank you so much ShuksEmergency :)
Don't let 2022 meet you, just do it!

Haha I love these analogies on price being market-driven. Thanks for sharing!
It is in Bro D's interest to pay the money before someone else does and he's back to square one 😂😂
Great comment and please subscribe and share!!
