Hi guys,
Hope you are well. I’m doing okay, Alhamdulillah.
I’m a bit tired today lol. I spent my morning on an assignment I had been putting off for about a week, and then most of my afternoon on an event for CC (iykyk).
After also spending the bulk of my evening on phone calls, I am physically x emotionally worn out. So we shall do a quick #Lite post today.
Okay?
What I’m reading
I’m currently reading Leading by Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Michael Moritz. As Manchester United’s Manager for 38 years and one of the most successful football coaches of all time, Sir Alex needs no introduction.
As a former United fan (before ori mi pe and I decided to cut ties with suffering 😅), reading advice on leadership infused with behind-the-scenes details on the club I was obsessed with for so long should be expected.
In addition, the co-author of the book, Sir Michael Moritz, is one of my self-proclaimed mentors (despite not knowing me of course 😂). Michael is one of the greatest capital allocators of our generation. As the Chairperson of Sequoia Capital, he runs the venture capital company that invested in some of the most iconic companies you know.
If you have ever interacted with products from companies including Google, YouTube, Apple, WhatsApp, Paypal, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Zoom, then Michael Moritz is one of the people you have to thank.
As you may guess, the book is very well worth your time.
What I’m watching
In reality, I am already watching something else (I consume a crazyy amount of content on YouTube), but as we spent time discussing this ‘57 years apart’ video in Concrete Ceilings today, it is still very much on my mind.
While I often spend time learning about new concepts or watching interviews on business, technology, and economics, I somehow stumbled on this video of a 7-year-old and 64-year-old giving each other advice. It is a sweet sweet video and makes me (and hopefully you) think quite a bit about what is most important.
If you have 4 minutes and 35 seconds to spare, give it a watch. 😊
** Jara content:
“Today, I received approximately the 11,504th email this year from a person telling me that they don’t know what to do with their life. And like all of the others, this person asked me if I had any ideas of what they could do, where they could start, where to ‘find their passion.’
I didn’t respond. Why? Because I have no clue. If you don’t have any idea what to do with yourself, what makes you think some random person with a website would? I’m a writer, not a fortune teller.”
-Mark Manson, Finding Your Passion
Have a great week. ✨
Hi Hameed, u doing good?
I feel like you are some superhuman, you talk about your heavy workload and busy schedule, don't think you ever breakdown or feel overwhelm.
You didn't include the video link to this or I missed it somehow - this video of a 7-year-old and 64-year-old giving each other advice.
thanks in advance.
